How do I make a Payment? | Repaying Your Loan

Making a payment with Earnest can be easily completed from your online dashboard. To schedule an early or extra one-time payment on your account, you will need to:

  1. Sign in to your Earnest dashboard
  2. Click  Screenshot_2023-05-31_at_2.35.18_PM.png
  3. Select Screen_Shot_2021-12-10_at_8.36.18_AM.png *Note, this button is available once your loan enters repayment*

You may schedule a same-day payment or for any date up to 60 days in the future. Please note that if you’re enrolled in Auto Pay, extra payments will not replace your monthly auto payments. If you are not enrolled in Auto Pay, you have the option to choose how your extra payments will be applied. For information on choosing your billing directive for manual payments, check out this article. If you would like information on enrolling your loan in Auto Pay for a 0.25% reduction on your interest rate, please refer to this article.

How can I find my due date?

Your first payment date will be scheduled approximately 25 to 60 days after your loan becomes active unless specified by a deferred repayment plan. Both the primary borrower and cosigner (if applicable) will receive an initial monthly billing statement, reflecting your first payment due date approximately 25 days before your first payment date. For deferred repayment plans, your estimated repayment schedule will be included in the final disclosure statement emailed to you after your disbursement schedule has been set.

Once your loan becomes active, you may also view your payment date from your online dashboard by signing into your Earnest account and selecting “View Loan Details.” Your first payment date will be listed at the top of the page.

Can I change my repayment plan payment schedule?

You can make changes to your payment date by reaching out to our Client Happiness Team. There are a few important restrictions:

  • Your new payment date must fall between the 3rd and the 22nd of the month if you are enrolled in monthly payments. If you would like to make changes to your payment frequency (biweekly or monthly), check out this article.
  • Changes to your payment date will not apply to the current month's payment but will be implemented in 1 to 2 payments in the future, depending on the timing of your request. (For instance, if you request the change in September, it would go into effect in either October or November. This is because we are unable to change your payment date once your monthly statement has been generated for the upcoming payment.)

You can contact our team by clicking "Get In Touch" found at the bottom of this article.
