What Are the Bank Account Requirements for a Personal Loan? | Personal Loans

To ensure your funds are disbursed securely and your payments can be processed without delay, any bank account you connect to your Earnest Personal Loan must meet specific account and security standards.

When selecting or linking an account during your application, please keep the following requirements in mind:

  • Must be an established account: To safeguard against potential fraud and protect your identity, we are unable to accept newly opened bank accounts. The linked account must have an active, established history. If you recently opened an account, please use an established bank account instead.
  • Must be a personal account: We only support personal checking or savings accounts. We cannot disburse funds to or accept loan payments from business, corporate, or commercial accounts.
  • Must be in your name: You must be an authorized primary owner on the account, and the account details must match the personal information provided on your loan application.

Tips for Faster Verification and Funding

  • Use your account on file: If you already have an active account with Earnest, selecting the bank account already linked to your profile is the fastest, most seamless way to verify ownership and avoid funding delays.
  • Linking a new account: If you connect a different bank account, linking electronically through Plaid provides instant verification. If you choose to enter your routing and account numbers manually, micro-deposit verification will be required, which typically takes 1 to 3 business days to complete before your application can proceed.
