I am an international student, can I apply for an Earnest loan? | Private Student Loans

If you are a student who is not a U.S. citizen or are a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA), you may be eligible for an Earnest loan if you apply with a creditworthy cosigner who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. In addition to having a cosigner, you must have a physical address in the United States.

If you would like to submit an application, you will be prompted to select your citizenship status. Please select “other” from the options presented to indicate you are an international student. You may be prompted to enter a Social Security number before you are able to continue with the application. If this is the case and you do not have one, you will need to obtain a placeholder for a Social Security number from our team by clicking the “Get In Touch” button at the bottom of this article. You may also reach out to the financial aid office at the university you plan on attending for details on obtaining a Social Security number for purposes beyond applying for a student loan. It is important to note, that we are able to accept Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) in lieu of a Social Security Number.
