Your enrollment status is determined by your school and depends on the number of credit hours you are scheduled to take during an academic year (or by semester, term, or quarter). Common enrollment statuses include:

- Half-time – 6–8 credits per semester
- Less than half-time – Fewer than 6 credits per semester
No degree is required for either the student or the parent to apply. However, the student must be enrolled at least half-time while pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.
