Can My Spouse and I Refinance and Consolidate Our Loans Together? | Student Loan Refinancing

While we are unable to combine loans from two different individuals, we would be happy to consider two separate refinancing applications. If you are looking to factor your spouse’s financial profile into your application to help you qualify or secure a better rate, you have two excellent options available.

Option 1: Include Household Income & Joint Assets

During your initial Rate Check, you will enter your individual income, but you will also see a dedicated space to include household income. You are welcome to include your spouse's income on the "Household Income" line, and we can also credit you for any assets held jointly. Before submitting your full application, you will simply be asked to confirm the types of income received and specify each source as yours, another household member's, or shared income. You maintain the flexibility to remove household income before finalizing your application if needed.

Option 2: Add Your Spouse as a Cosigner

If you would prefer to fully share responsibility for the loan and combine your credit profiles, we offer applicants the option to add a cosigner.* Once you complete the initial Rate Check, you will see a prompt to add your spouse as a cosigner so you can see what your rates look like with them on the application.

Kindly note that this invitation must be sent after the Rate Check but before you submit your full application, as a cosigner cannot be added later on in the process. Additionally, please ensure your spouse uses a different email address from yours so that your application details remain completely separate and do not cause any technical issues.

*Due to state regulations related to cosigner release, we are currently unable to accept cosigners who reside in Connecticut for Student Loan Refinancing.
