What is the NaviRefi and Earnest Relationship? | General Questions

Earnest was founded in 2013 and became part of the Navient family in 2017. Earnest, a Navient subsidiary and the lender on your refinance loan helped originate your NaviRefi loan. This Earnest-Navient collaboration gives clients access to a broader range of financial services within the Navient family and provides clients with a best-in-class experience for managing their student loans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Earnest the new servicer for NaviRefi loans?

As of October 22, 2023, Earnest began supporting NaviRefi clients with payment processing, managing account details, and answering questions with Navient’s support.

Why is Earnest now my loan servicer?

When you first signed for your NaviRefi loan, your loan disclosures explained that Earnest Operations, LLC – a Navient subsidiary – was the lender and originated the loan. Given our continued partnership and commitment to providing you with the best-in-class experience, Earnest is now servicing your NaviRefi loans with Navient’s support.

What is changing?

There will be no impact on the terms, conditions, or benefits associated with a NaviRefi loan. Clients will retain the same account number and send payments to the same address (only the payee will be Earnest, as reflected in the monthly billing statement). Clients enrolled in AutoPay do not have to take any action.

The only thing that will change will be the number you call for support. Depending on where you are in the loan process will determine which phone number you will need to call to receive support.

Was my NaviRefi loan sold?

We apologize for any confusion we may have caused during this process. Your loans were not sold, and we continue to actively collaborate with our Navient family to improve the way you manage your loan. Earnest, a Navient subsidiary and the lender of your refinance loan helped originate your NaviRefi loan, and we all remain committed to helping make this transition as smooth as possible.
