Form 1098-E is a Student Loan Interest Statement we issue to clients who’ve paid eligible student loan interest during the calendar year. You may be able to deduct some or even all of that interest on your federal income tax return. It’s important to note that we don’t have access to any interest amounts you’ve paid to other lenders prior to refinancing, so your form will only show the interest you’ve paid on your Earnest loan in 2022. If you are a cosigner or have made payments towards a loan that is not in your name, you will not receive a 1098-E form from Earnest. We recommend consulting your tax advisor if you have questions or check out this article for more information.
Depending on if you’ve selected to receive your tax form electronically or by mail, accessing your tax documents may look a little different.
Paperless - you’ll want to follow these instructions to access and download your tax document(s):
- Sign in to your Earnest account
- Select
from the left-side navigation menu and choose
- Click the downward arrow to view and download your document(s)
By mail - If you’re not set up for electronic delivery, we’ll mail you your tax form(s) no later than January 31st to the address listed on your Earnest account. Please allow additional time for your mail carrier to get this to you (usually 7-10 days). A digital copy will also be available to download within your online dashboard.
